Scholarships

Our scholarship program provides financial assistance for learning supports for people undertaking studies in community services related or health fields.

The program provides support to First Nations people and aims to improve the diversity of the local community services workforce through the creation and ongoing commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student placements.

Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person studying at university or TAFE?

Our scholarship program provides financial assistance for textbooks and other learning supports for people undertaking studies in community services-related fields.

The program provides support to First Nations people and aims to improve the diversity of the local community services workforce through the creation and ongoing commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student placements.

Scholarship recipients will be prioritised for student placements, so we can help you get the hands-on experience you need to complete your studies.

Important Information

  • Scholarships will be awarded each year. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,250 to assist with textbooks and other learning resources.

  • To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria:

    • Be a an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

    • Currently enrolled in a health or community services related course or degree

    • Be a resident of the Central Coast or Mid North Coast

    • Previous recipients of the scholarship are able to apply in subsequent years providing they still meet eligibility criteria. Being awarded a scholarship in a previous year does not guarantee you will be successful with your application in the future.

      Coast & Country Primary Care staff are ineligible to apply for this scholarship.

  • The financial assistance can go towards learning resources. These are defined as:

    • Laptop

    • Tablet

    • Mouse and keyboard

    • Textbooks

    • Stationery items

  • Scholarship applications are currently closed.

    Before you apply, please have the following information prepared to support your application:

    • Course details and institution including commencement and anticipated completion date.

    • Placement information.

    • Learning institution contact information eg course supervisor, student support.

    • An idea of what you are planning to use the scholarship funds for

    • A resume listing your work and study history

    • A cover letter including brief summary of why you have chosen this area of study and what you would like to achieve after you have attained your qualifications

    • A letter from your learning institution confirming your enrolment

    Please be aware that scholarship funds may be considered taxable income. We recommend you seek independent financial advice regarding your circumstances.
