The Child Mental Health Service (CMHS) provides short term psychological support for children up to the age of 12 years. It is designed for children who currently have, or are at risk of developing, a mild to moderate mental, behavioural or emotional disorder. As part of the CMHS, support is also available to parents, family members, and other persons with responsibility for the child (e.g. guardians) to assist them to better support the child, however the child remains the focus of the treatment.
Referrals can be made by either a GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist with an accompanying Mental Health Treatment Plan. Each referral to the service entitles the individual to six sessions with an Allied Health Professional (AHP) and individuals can receive two referrals per calendar year. Services are available at contracted AHP practice locations across the Central Coast and referrals can only be issued if the client has a valid pension, health or DVA card.
How to Refer
You must be a CCPC registered user to access the CCPC online referral system. If you are not registered please contact the Mental Health Project Office, Jemma Bullock on 4302 5239 for further information.
To log onto the BOMH online referral system, visit https://ataps.ccpc.com.au/ and select the BOMH referral tab. Click on “CREATE REFERRAL” and complete the required fields before submitting. A referral number will then be allocated to the individual. If referral numbers are exhausted, you will then receive a notice advising alternate pathways available.
As referrals are limited, you can also check if they are available when you log in. The numbers remaining of each referral are displayed.
