The Aunty Jean’s program is a weekly meeting of Aboriginal people who are interested in improving their health and wellbeing. Everyone gets a personal health check and plan.

Every week people get to check their blood pressure, blood sugar level and weight. They are also encouraged to exercise as individuals and within a group. This  includes walking programs, physical assessments, goal setting and culturally appropriate information sharing.

The program is run every Monday and Wednesday from 10am to 2pm, lunch is provided.

On Mondays the program is held at Mingaletta Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation, Umina Beach and Wednesdays at Hamlyn Terrace Community Centre, Hamlyn Terrace.

Who can join?

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have:

  • Heart problems, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure,Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
  • Have one or more of the following chronic conditions: diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease or chronic kidney disease.
